Discipline, also called penitential whip, which is a tool used from centuries for corporal punishment. The second, much more important, function was to use discipline to an external mortification, and as a way to pay for sins. Discipline is made similar to the thirteenth-century whips used by Christian flagellants. The whip is made of natural material - from an extremely durable flax fibers which 810 daN breaking strength. Discipline is braided after washing in a special blend of resins and tannins, which makes discipline a lot stronger. In this type of whips, to increase the pain impact, a special nodes are formed. This nodes is called Franciscan whose characteristic is that they are strengthened through ordinary use.
